Neartown Association

Neartown Association is a 43-year old non-profit umbrella organization whose membership includes over 20 civic associations in the Neartown/Montrose Super Neighborhood #24 area, including NMCA. Neartown Association brings residents, businesses, institutions, and other stakeholders together to inform, discuss, and work collectively on issues affecting our community, and provides the Neartown/Montrose community a voice to the Mayor and City Council of Houston and other public officials.

River Oaks Shopping Center

River Oaks Shopping Center is the oldest shopping center in Texas and the second oldest shopping center in the nation (Country Club Plaza in Kansas City, Missouri is the nation’s oldest). Hugh Potter, the center’s designer, began building River Oaks Shopping Center in 1937. River Oaks Shopping Center is one of Houston’s premier examples of Modern architectural design.

Neartown Little League

Neartown Youth Baseball was founded in 1996 by a group of concerned citizens who sought to bring baseball to a part of inner city Houston that had no organized baseball programs for children.

Museum District Business Alliance

The MDBA promotes business and the arts in Montrose and the Museum District. It provides an educational forum for business issues and concerns and works to help solve them through monthly luncheon meetings and After-hours Membership Mixers which offer excellent networking opportunities.

Wharton Dual Language Academy

Wharton Dual Language Academy is a K-8 school located at 900 W Gray. Wharton has been a mainstay in the community for over 75 years, and received dual language authorization from the International Baccalaureate Organization in June, 2014.

Gregory Lincoln Education Center

The Gregory Lincoln Education Center is a K-8 fine arts magnet school located at 1101 Taft St.

Lamar High School

Although not in the confines of North Montrose, Lamar High School, an International Baccalaureate World School located at 3325 Westheimer Rd, is the closest secondary public high school.
